Our objective
in providing a comprehensive sales training program to our
distributors is to provide thorough, extensive product training,
and the best trained staff to assist their customers, resulting
in a better informed and more successful sales partner. Our
goal is to train them on our complete line of products, giving
them the sales advantage to specify our products in existing
sales and new products and an awareness that creates overall
growth.
Both the
DSOT (DODGE School of Transmissioneering) and the RSMD (RELIANCE
School of Motors and Drives) are given in the DODGE – RELIANCE
Training Center in Greenville, SC. These programs are comprehensive
classes taught by our marketing specialists, product engineers,
and training specialists. Each product line is highlighted
giving the features and benefits of the individual products,
their applications, and specifications. Hands-on sessions
aid in the instruction, and help the student visualize the
integrity of the products. Homework sessions examine product
and application knowledge acquired during the daily classes.
The DSOT,
with over 54 years in existence, is the longest ongoing sales
and product training program in the industry. It is centered
on the three main DODGE product lines: Bearings, Gearing,
and PT Components. Each line is subdivided into its main product
groups, discussing the features, benefits, and applications
of each one individually. Each discussion involves extensive
use of the DODGE Engineering Catalogs to develop product and
application knowledge.
The RSMD,
evolving from previous field schools, follows the pattern
and excellence of the DSOT. It also centers on product groups,
covering NEMA AC, Inverter Duty, Special Purpose, DC and Engineered
Motors, along with AC and DC Drive Basics, Products, Specifications,
and Applications. Hands on sessions with set-up and testing
are included in the drives segment.
Prerequisites
for the DSOT include at least 2 years of sales experience
in mechanical power transmission products. If the student
has been selling DODGE products for fewer than five years,
the completion of PREP X 1, "The Fundamentals of Power
Transmission," and PREP X 2, "The use of the Dodge
Engineering Catalogs," is required.
The RSMD
requires at least 2 years of sales experience in motors and
drives and the completion of the RELIANCE training programs,
"Fundamentals of AC Motors," and "Basics of
AC Drives."
Schools
start on Sunday evening with an introductory session, and
ending the following Friday afternoon with a graduation luncheon.
